In an attempt to better serve researchers, Animal Care Services (ACS) is requesting that Principal Investigators follow the Standard Operating Procedure for ordering animals. Investigators should submit the form below for each order, whether or not there is a cost for the animals.

1. For new projects, please notify the animal care managers in writing at least SIX WEEKS prior to submitting your order. This is to assure the availability of space, equipment, and personnel.

Please submit the form below at least TWO WEEKS prior to the start of your study. This is to assure the preparation of rooms, caging, and feed.

2. For existing projects, please submit the form below at least ONE WEEK in advance.

In an effort to alert the ACS animal care staff to any unique characteristics or potential health problems that may be associated with the animals you are ordering, please provide a brief description of any characteristic(s) or problem(s) that these animals may exhibit in the box above.

Examples of characteristics that should be mentioned include seizures, skin disorders, tumors, various genetic disorders and/or any physical or health problem that needs to be monitored as part of the routine care of these animals.

If you do not anticipate any problems, please enter “none anticipated”.
