(1) Digital Media + Learning Competition 5
http://dmlcompetition.net/building-trust/
The Trust Challenge funds successful collaborations or “laboratories” where challenges to trust in connected learning environments can be identified and addressed. Successful labs will create scalable, innovative, and transformative exemplars of connected learning that bridge technological solutions with complex social considerations of trust.
Awards
$10,000 to $150,000 year-long development grants
$5,000 technology grants
$1.2 million will be awarded in total.
Development grant award amounts will be determined by project feasibility and complexity, team member expertise, length of time required to complete the work, and level of institutional support.
In addition to the larger, on-going development grants, “People’s Choice Awards” will be made to the three finalist applications that amass the most votes during the public voting process. These small grants will be up to $5,000 and must be used specifically for approved technology purchases for the applying organization/institution.

(3) Global Innovation Initiative (GII)
The British Council have just launched the second round of the US-UK Global Innovation Initiative, a transatlantic funding scheme to strengthen research collaboration between universities in the UK, US, and other selected countries including Brazil, China, India and Indonesia.
This year the Global Innovation Initiative will award approximately 16 grants ranging from $100,000 – $200,000 (US) and £100,000 to £150,000 (UK) to university consortia focusing on science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM)-related issues of global significance.
Grants are intended to bring mutual benefit to higher education institutions in the UK, US and selected countries with emerging economies through the enhancement of institutional ties and the development of multilateral relationships. The goals of GII are: To increase the global mobility of students, researchers, faculty, and higher education administrators from the U.S., the UK, and other countries; . To develop a cadre of people in the U.S., UK, and other countries who have the international experience, outlook and knowledge to confront global challenges and operate in a global context; . To encourage international collaborations that develop capacity across a range of universities in the U.S., the UK, and other countries; . To forge university and business linkages that support a globally mobile talent pool and a multinational base for the exchange of discovery and innovation.
The call for proposals is now open and closes on 31 October 2014 at 5:00pm EST.
